Today was a watershed day! The weather is beautiful and warm and I'm making an effort to spend time outside. I've yanked all that depressing Radiohead stuff out of my CD player and replaced it with the decidedly poppy Caroline mixes. I'm munching on Thin Mints and skipping boring classes and thinking about Spring Break. I'm effervescent, or possibly sprightly. Yesterday I walked out of our screening for film class, because it was American Beauty and I hate that movie more than any other movie ever made. Seriously, I'd rather watch Nazi propaganda tapes. I was sitting there enduring yet another scene of sophomoric walking clichés delivering trite lines to each other to achieve some heavy-handed point when I realized that I could slip out, get an Icee from Tate, and go walking outside in the sunshine. I got a cherry Icee. Today's was Coca-Cola-flavored. I think that I should someday go a week without using any eating utensil other than the spoon-straw. Stroon? Spraw? Today I saw the guy who looks like Peter Jackson who always argues with Tate evangelists again, for the first time since last fall. Normally it annoys me to hear atheists getting preachy, but for some reason, today's annoyance was infused with pleasant nostalgia. I was grinning for at least half an hour just thinking about the ridiculoulsness of the situation. Now it's cloudy outside again, but I'm sure it will be sunny soon. Nick ::: 5:47 PM ::: 0 comments |
